New Scientific Research Reveals How Chameleons Really Change Color

Chameleons are known for their ability to change their skin color in a hurry. Researchers from two departments, Quantum Matter Physics and Genetics and Evolution, at the University of Geneva came together to study how and why these creatures can change their color. It's been a common misconception that chameleons can camouflage themselves against their surroundings. In reality, chameleons are able to change in order to communicate, as well as to regulate their body temperatures.

Created by Derek Muller in 2011, the channel's name is the combination of "veritas," the Latin word for truth and "-ium," which is the suffix of most elements. Combined, the Latin word and suffix create the element of truth or veritasium.
