One Astronaut Is About Try Something No American Has Ever Done

The purpose of this study is to monitor the impact that living in space has on the human body. Kelly's twin brother, Mark, will be the experimental control since he is staying here. Since they are identical twins, they have the same genetic code, any effects on Scott can not only be monitored, but also compared to his brother.
Both selected for the space program back in 1996, they are NASA's first siblings and the first identical twins to be in space together, which they did in 2010.
NASA recently announced that Scott Kelly will be dedicating a year of his life to space science. With three missions already under his belt, March 28 will be his fourth trip into space with two Russian cosmonauts. What makes this trip different is that Mikhail Kornienko and Kelly will be staying behind on the space station for an entire year.
