Onlookers Witness A Rare Display From A Pod Of Orca Whales

Apr 14, 2015
Commonly referred to as a killer whale, the orca whale can be found in all of the planet's oceans, and it is one of the most easily identifiable of all whales. Although they are significantly smaller than many of the other most commonly known species of whale, they are skilled at hunting in large packs to outmaneuver their prey.

While little is understood about their migration patterns, each summer orcas are a common sight off of the coast of British Columbia, Canada. They are known to swim up to boats and other floating objects, but occasionally baby pods have been sighted swimming incredibly close to the shore. On an otherwise average day off the coast, these people had a whale sighting that they won't soon forget.
