Orangutan Sees A Mother With A Baby And Wants To Interact With It

Jun 16, 2015 By Christi Mulligan
The two extant species of orangutans are exclusively from Asia. Although once considered to be one species, they have been divided into two groups as of 1996. The first group is the Bornean orangutan from Borneo and the second is the Sumatran orangutan from, you guessed it, Sumatra. These primates are considered to one of the most personable groups of ape, very intelligent, and closely related to humans. This relationship might have something to do with how this female orangutan responded. Not only was she trying to sneak a peek but pointing at the baby, and it even seems she is smiling. Too cool!
