Literal versus figurative can lead to some fantastic and punny situations. Nowhere is this more apparent than with the following video where the notion of an ordinary bed and a “flower bed” get combined into the world’s greatest piece of outdoor furniture. Well, world’s greatest could be an exaggeration, but it’s definitely in the running for that prize.
Whoever came up with the concept of a sod “bed” for a backyard is simply genius, and the design of this simple construction project is equally clever. We especially love the “headboard” planter. The design is modern, simple and snazzy and would look great just about anywhere. It’s also the most clever solution we’ve seen to a yard that lacks a real lawn.
No grass? No problem, now. You don’t even need dirt in the yard, as the video clearly shows, with that completely paved space on which it’s built. Even if you’ve got a verdant and spacious lawn, the notion of a dedicated, elevated patch of perfectly trimmed, perfectly green, perfectly lush grass just for taking summer cat naps on is quite appealing. Unlike a hammock, you’re not going to flip and fall out of this backyard napping spot. Not without trying really hard. And by elevating it, you’re helping to keep it clear from some potential animal … leavings. A few all-weather cushions and you’ve got yourself a fortress of napitude right in your own little patch of the outdoors. In the right climate you could even sleep out there, no tent required.
