When Timo the cat received his hammock over four months ago, he had a difficult time getting onto it. He'd been on several times, and it was the most comfortable he'd ever felt in his whole entire life. Anxious to try again, he constantly attempted to get onto the hammock. However, it was difficult for him to land gracefully, and the hammock kept flipping over. All he wanted was that soothing, heavenly feeling of laying in the hammock again.
Cats aren't the only creatures on earth who love hammocks, though. In fact, humans have been using them since the 1600s. Colonists from Spain discovered that Native Americans were using them when they landed in the West Indies during the Spanish conquest. Since then, people have taken hammocks to some pretty extreme locations, redefining sight-seeing and relaxation at the same time. Bears have even been known to steal a nap on someone's hammock, which this man from Daytona Beach learned the hard way.
If you're interested in building your own hammock, they're actually pretty simple to build and make a great addition to any porch or reading nook. A full list of instructions can be found here.
As Timo shows, cats usually have a lot of fun playing in custom-built cat houses and beds. They love challenging themselves to climb up difficult structures, especially when a comfy spot awaits them as a reward. For Timo the cat, this hammock is his Everest, and he is determined to prevail.
