Philadelphia Meets The South In This Blues Remake Of "The Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air"
Jun 12, 2015
Recently, YouTube musician "samuraiguitarist" and his buddy Jeff Gagne sat down and thought about what that famous song might sound like had Will been from the South instead of West Philly and was singing delta blues instead of rapping. Judging from this video, I'd say it's a show I'd still watch and love.
"In West Philadelphia, born and raised..." are words that people around the world are familiar with. This is, of course, one of the opening lines from the theme song to the 1990s mega-hit sitcom "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air," the show that took promising young rapper Will Smith and turned him into a household name worldwide. Chances are, I don't even need to finish out the sentence, because you already have the rest of the song stuck in your head from years of watching it on NBC (and replays on Nick at Nite).
