Pro Basketball Player's Romantic Proposal Is Inspired By A Scene From "Love And Basketball"

Canadian basketball star Alex "Superman" Johnson took a page right out of Hollywood recently when he proposed to his girlfriend, former UNC Greensboro guard Brey Dorsett, during a one-on-one basketball game. Playing in a gym full of friends and onlookers, Johnson doesn't go easy on his beloved and takes an early 2-0 lead. On his third drive, he fakes an injury and stays down while a buddy secretly hands him the ring. That's when he proposes and, like any good Hollywood ending, she says yes.

If this all looks somewhat familiar, it's because it was inspired by a pivotal scene from the film "Love and Basketball", in which Monica (played by Sanaa Lathan) challenges the soon-to-be-married Quincy (Omar Epps) to a game of one-on-one basketball for his heart.
