Puppy Is Beyond Confused When He Gets His First Case Of The Hiccups
May 3, 2015
Hiccups for dogs, much like hiccups for humans, are simply the result of spasms in the diaphragm that are caused by air being inhaled the wrong way. For humans that's often when laughing, but for dogs it can be a result of eating or drinking too quickly, or just because of stress/excitement. Ultimately though, it's fairly harmless and some experts believe it may even aid digestion.
As a puppy, life is pretty great. You spend your days eating, sleeping, playing and having everyone constantly cooing over how adorable you are. The part where it gets serious is when you learn about how the world works. Discovering something new can be scary when you don't know what it is, and that's precisely what's happening to Buck, an 8-week-old Heeler who's having his first run-in with the hiccups. He's definitely not a fan, and he tries growling at his belly - the apparent source of this mysterious force.
