In 1857, Wells Fargo joined other express companies to form the Overland Mail Company, and, on April 3, 1860, the Pony Express made its first run. From the Wells Fargo "History of the American West" archives, we get a glimpse into the thoughts of the riders and learn how they managed to provide a speedy method of delivering mail over a two-thousand-mile route that stretched between St. Joseph, Missouri and Sacramento, California.
