The Villalobos Rescue Center in New Orleans, Louisiana holds the distinction of being the largest pit bull rescue center in the world. It's a distinction that gives them a bittersweet sense of pride because in an ideal world, there would be no need for a rescue operation of that size. They work day and night to rescue pit bulls who have been abandoned, neglected or otherwise abused by their owners and help get the dogs the medical treatments they need as well as rehabilitate them to eventually be adopted by a loving home.
In this video, the team finds a mama pit bull wandering around. She's all skin and bones, but rescuers see from her condition that she probably had puppies recently. Although she's got every reason as a mother and as an abused animal to be wary of humans, she seems to know instinctively that these people are here to help and, in a move that surprised the rescuers, leads them right back to where her puppies are. Retrieving the pups ends up being slightly complicated but in the end, the team is able to safely reunite them with their mother.
