School Lunch In Japan Is Amazing

There's a lot more to lunch than just food in Japan. The school views it as yet another opportunity to teach. At an elementary school in Saitama, lunch is just another classroom. The students all have responsibilities. Some students grow vegetables in the school's garden, others serve their classmates, and still others are in charge of cleaning up. The video below started going viral and at first it was just an awesome display of one school's dedication to its students, but for some it's highlighted the weaknesses of American school systems.

“Look at that, at a young age they’re taught to eat fish and healthy food some of which they’ve grown themselves. They are taught personal hygiene, how to serve food to their fellow classmates, clean after themselves after each meal, recycling and being thankful to the people who made the food for them,” says a YouTube commenter.
