Slam Poet Answers The Question: "What Do Teachers Make?"

Feb 7, 2015
Taylor Mali hails from New York and is most well known for his current profession - poet. To be completely accurate, Mali is not just a poet, he is a slam poet. Known for helping bring slam poetry mainstream, Taylor's "What Teachers Make" spoken word is likely his most well-known work and can certainly be considered viral.

A poetry slam is a competition where poets go head to head reciting their original poetry, at times off-the-cuff. Mali is extremely passionate about the occupation and deems it the "greatest job in the world," spending 9 years in the classroom himself. A teacher advocate, Mr. Mali reminds viewers of the long hours, hard work, and heart that teachers pour into their jobs and the recognition they deserve for doing so.
