When was the last time you thought about crickets? Unless you're an entomologist, an avid camper or this welder, it's probably been awhile since the noisy insects entered your mind. Well, composer Jim Wilson has been thinking about crickets a lot. Wilson decided to record crickets, who are known for their distinct "chirping" sound, and experiment with changing their pitch. When he slowed down his recordings, the result was more beautiful and haunting than he could have ever imagined. Now, he's published the results of his work as an hour-long piece entitled "God's Chorus of Crickets." You obviously don't have to listen to the entire thing (I don't know who would) but it's worth it to skip around and sample the surreal experience.
