New Jersey artist Ricky Syers is known for combining and creating in the music industry, bringing progressive rock to a higher level. Prog rock is where the artist brings something experimental or unusual to a song to create something new. He definitely brings something new to Canadian rock band Rush's hit, "Tom Sawyer." In doing so, Syers combines his love for and talent in the rock arena with his penchant for the ancient art of marionette creation.

Like many other songs from the late 1970s and early 1980s, "Tom Sawyer" featured an emphasis on the music, with extended opportunities for band members to showcase their talents. The song relies heavily on Geddy Lee's keyboard playing and also on drummer Neil Peart's work. Syers's puppet, named Chops, even looks like Peart as he puts in an amazing effort to mimic the classic cadence.
