Teachers Get A Musical Surprise At Their Back To School Meeting

Aug 26, 2015 By Michael W. Pirrone

For some strange reason, teachers really don’t get the respect they deserve. Where many of us have clearly defined work hours, teachers don’t adhere to a 9 to 5 schedule. They’re often at work before the sun rises and even when they get home, they’ve got papers to review. They’ve theoretically got plenty of vacation but even that can be loaded with inservices and continuing education as a teacher never stops learning throughout their career. And the meetings. And the conferences. And so on.

Well, it’s no surprise that some of these meetings can get a little dull. After about a thousand PowerPoint presentations you’ve probably had enough. Several teachers in the West Des Moines Community School District decided to plan a little surprise for their friends and coworkers, to break up the monotony of their “welcome back” meeting. Apparently it only took 3 days for them to get this fantastic performance together. This is the kind of passion for the profession you hope to see from all teachers. But for parents in this school district, they know their kids are in great hands.
