The Power Of The Internet Brought These Twins Together, But How Far Apart They Were Is Astonishing

Imagine getting a message from a random stranger from the other side of the world saying they just might be your long lost twin.

That's what happened to Samantha Futerman when Anaïs Bordier, a girl she’s never met, contacted her on Facebook. We’ve all heard of fictitious stories about long lost twins meeting each other after they’re all grown up. But this is the real thing. This is the story of how Samantha and Anaïs found each other.

The resemblance is unsurprising once you know the whole story.

Anaïs Bordier is 27 years old. After being adopted as a toddler, she grew up in Paris with her loving parents. She was born in South Korea.

She currently works as a designer in France.

One day, while casually browsing the web, she came across a YouTube video of a young woman who looked exactly like her.

Her name was Samantha Futerman, an actress living in Los Angeles.

She decided to look her up and it appeared that she shared her exact same birthday, was also born in South Korea and was also adopted.

So Anaïs decided to reach out to her:

My name is Anaïs, I am french and live in London,

About 2 months ago, my friend was watching one of your videos with Kevjumba on youtube, and he saw you and thought that we looked really very similar...
like... VERY REALLY SIMILAR...we were making jokes about it etc. (I'm always being violent with people and hitting them too hahaha)

Today, he saw the trailer of 21 & over and told me he saw you again, I then checked your name on the cast, stalked you A BIT, and found out you were born the 19th of [N]ovember 1987.

I checked more of your videos (which are hilarious) and then came upon how it feels to be adopted... and discovered you were adopted too.

So..I don't want to be too Linday [sic] Lohan, to put it..I was wondering where you were born?

I was born on the 19th of November 1987, in Busan but my papers were made at the Holt Chuldren's Institute, so "officially" I was born in Seoul. My korean name is Kim Eunwha. I arrived in France the 5th March 1988, so 3 months later.

You can check my facebook if you want to check the pictures and videos. It's more obvious on videos...

Let me know...don't freak out...
Lots of love

This original message was later shared through Facebook Stories

After finding out about each other, they realized they were twins.

Even though they grew up on different continents.

And, even though one of them is American and the other French. There is no denying the facts.

The two girls met in London for the first time, took a DNA test, and received the official news that they are in fact sisters.

This whole story was filmed as the documentary "Twinsters," directed by Samantha Futerman and Ryan Miyamoto. It premiers at South by Southwest (SXSW) film festival on March 15.
