We’re not big on UFOs or conspiracy theories around here, but looking at the Crooked Forest in Nowe Czarnowo, Poland, we’re a little more willing to entertain wild theories about how it formed. In just one particular area of the forest, nearly all the trees have a sharp, 90-degree bend in their trunks, facing north, and then each gracefully curves its way back to normal as it continues upward.
The weird part is … nobody knows how they got like this.
There are “simple” explanations like, “a snowstorm did it,” or the most likely, they were bent that way by people for carpentry purposes and never got harvested.
That hasn’t stopped some people from coming up with more unusual explanations.
Everything from “strange gravitational fields” to “UFO landing site” has been proposed.
There are no written records of the purpose behind them, so it’s kind of hard to prove it wasn’t aliens.
Even though it probably wasn’t aliens.
Still, whether the cause is mundane or out of this world, the fact remains, the Crooked Forest is an otherworldly place.
It’s beautiful, but when you look at it, something just doesn’t feel quite right.
We’d love to pay it a visit some day, though.
