Ford introduced a car with paint that shifted colors back in 1996. The car was the Mystic Cobra and had 7 visible colors, with purple, gold and green being the most easily seen of the colors. In 2004, they released the Mystichrome Cobra which had a similar paint scheme. The 2004 Mystichrome Cobra's color changed from black to purple to blue to topaz. Nissan took things a step further and created what they referred to as "paramagnetic" coating for paint. It features a polymer layer with iron oxide particles. When there is an application of an electric current to that layer, the crystals can be interpreted as different colors. We're not sure if that's what is going on in this video, but regardless, it looks pretty mesmerizing.
