This Chipmunk Protects His Collection Of Nuts

Jun 29, 2015 By Paul Kim
Have you ever seen a chipmunk collecting its food? It's quite possibly one of the cutest sights you'll ever see. Instead of carrying it in their hands, they'll stuff it into their cheek pouches and take it into their burrows for storage.

As the smallest member of the squirrel family, chipmunks are incredibly quick and energetic, and that allows them to run and hide from predators like hawks, foxes, and snakes. One of their most distinct characteristics is that they hibernate. But instead of storing fat, they store food. And when another chipmunk tries to steal it, they act swiftly to protect it. Because they're so tiny, it's unbearably cute to watch.
