It's hard to believe, but Christmas is only a couple of weeks away. Many of us have already finished our Christmas lists, but malls everywhere are still brimming with people trying to get it all done. Though it is supposed to be a joyous time of year, it's hard to avoid the stressful hustle and bustle of the season.
A common sight at almost every mall during the month of December is Santa Claus. Sitting in a chair and dressed in red, children eagerly line up to tell him the details of their Christmas wish list. However, one mall in Toronto, Canada is taking a different approach on their portrayal of Santa.
Known as "Fashion Santa," this depiction of Santa Claus has been grabbing attention across the world.
Not confined to the classic outfit or being overweight, this Santa has become popular due to his good looks and dashing fashion sense.
This dashing St. Nick is portrayed by Paul Mason — a professional model. Appearing at Yorkdale Mall, he is quite different from anything you have ever seen.
The goal of this Kris Kringle is to appeal to a wider audience in more ways than one. With people young and old wanting to take pictures with him, Yorkdale will donate $1 to the SickKids Foundation for every selfie on social media that include the hashtag #YorkdaleFashionSanta.
It may seem a bit strange, but it's all for a good cause.
In some ways, a Santa that looks just like an ordinary person might be a little less intimidating to children.
Families from all over the city are flocking to see Fashion Santa.
The kids don't seem to have any complaints about Santa’s new wardrobe collection.
And he is definitely becoming popular amongst the older crowd.
