As you can see in this video, there's nothing cuter than a pack of swimming puppies. Veterinarians agree that it's a great way to keep dogs cool in the summer heat. It's also a great form of exercise that wears out little pups and a low-impact exercise for older dogs or dogs with hip and joint pain. While some dogs seem to take to the water completely naturally, others are a little more timid. Some dogs are just not natural swimmers and might need some "swimming lessons" from their families. Keep in mind that some dogs, like Bulldogs, simply cannot swim because of the shape of their bodies and will sink if they try. Most recommend using dog life vests and carefully introducing dogs into the water. With communication and care, pool time might be for the whole family, Fido included.
