If your fantasy vacation is part ocean and part lagoon, you might design your dream location as a lush tropical island with an enormous lagoon in the center. What if I told you that such a place actually exists?
It's called Tikehau, an atoll in French Polynesia.
Atoll means a ring-shaped island formed by coral.
It's in the Palliser Island group, just northeast of Tahiti.
Virtually all of Tikehau is right on the water.
The name translates to "peaceful landing" in Tuamotuan.
Only 300 people live on Tikehau and nearly all of them work on the Pearl Beach Resort.
It's accessible by the Tikehau Airport or by a fairly long boat ride.
But for a vacation like this, wouldn't it be worth it?
