Using drones to build a rope bridge is an impressive feat of technology. Even more impressive is the fact that these drones aren't being piloted by anyone but themselves. Researchers from ETH Zurich have programmed drones capable of building a bridge that can sustain human weight. By calculating the distance between two points, these little machines determine the tools and actions required to make a connection.

Throughout history, people have built bridges to overcome obstacles and explore new frontiers. In doing so, we grow as a human race, forming connections that provide us with new information. Whatever our obstacle is in the future, we now have a new ally to help us overcome it.
