Trooper's Kind Gesture Goes Viral

Just last month, three brothers in Nevada found themselves in a precarious situation. They had gotten lost while riding their bikes to Walmart, and were now stuck on the side of the highway in 110-degree heat. Thankfully, Nevada State Trooper John Morris was out on patrol and had already received several calls about three kids on the highway.

Here's what Trooper Morris saw when he came upon the scene:

Look closely at this dash cam footage and you'll be able to make out the three boys - seven, eight, and 17 years old - on the side of the road. They were attempting to get some relief from the 110-degree heat by hiding in the shade of an underpass.

In an interview with a local news outlet, Morris reported that "The 17-year-old was riding a bike with the seven-year-old on the handlebars. I can only imagine my children out there, and I made them promise me they’d never get on the highway again."

The rescue didn't end there, however. After he picked up the boys, he took them to the Walmart they had been trying to get to, and then proceeded to buy ice cream for all of them!

A bystander took a photo of the scene and uploaded it to her Facebook, along with the following caption:

"Walking into Walmart we saw a police officer who had just helped a couple of kids unload their bikes out of his SUV... He took them inside and bought them McDonald's. I thought this was important to post to show that in light of everything we have going on we do have some good police officers out there."

After they were finished with the ice cream, Morris took the boys home. When they asked him about his job, he explained that he gets "the opportunity to help people out every day, and that's why we do this as troopers."
