Live news reports are one of the few programs on television that allow for genuinely unexpected things to happen. Every once in a while, in the middle of a report, there's a moment that neither the anchors nor the viewers could have planned for. One of these recently occurred on KVUE Austin while two anchors were reporting on heavy floods in the Austin area.
The station received footage of a man named Kerry Packer whose car was swept away by floodwaters while he was still inside. Intrigued by this up close look at the flood, the anchors tried calling him to see how he was doing. Little did they know, Kerry was still in the middle of the action and far from being home safe. Fortunately, he doesn't let his dire circumstances keep him from having a calm, pleasant phone interview with KVUE Austin. If you ever find yourself in the middle of a flood, remember to be as thankful for the "nice, sturdy trees" as Kerry.
