It always pays to be vigilant when you’re out shopping. Big retailers are prime locations for scammers and other criminals to find their marks. There’s some debate out there as to the authenticity of the very clever trick featured in this news report, but the lesson taught is clear: be observant.
The fake money featured in the report is very real and very prevalent. Most commonly, it’s used by evangelists to entice people into reading a Bible quote or two printed on the back of a fake bill of various denominations. I think we can all agree that’s a lot better than a carjacking! Keep your eyes peeled for counterfeit currency, as well. Retail employees can be so busy, and they may not be checking as closely as possible. If they miss a fake bill, you might end up with it when you get your change.
