These cute dogs sure do look ashamed of themselves, don't they? Well, think again. They might give you the puppy dog eyes that just scream "I'm sorry", but according to animal behaviorists, that just isn't the case. A study conducted in 2009 by Alexandra Horowitz, an associate professor at Barnard College, took a scientific look at what your pup is thinking while getting chewed out for chewing up your shoe. Using 14 dogs as subjects, she taped their reactions to getting told off by their owners. Regardless of whether the dogs had done something to feel guilty about, they universally displayed that same "guilty dog" look. While Horowitz maintains that dogs might still feel guilt, their sadly cute faces are not an indication of it.
