West Coast Animal Rescue's owner, Sherri, has devoted her entire life to saving animals. There's not a thing she wouldn't do for her furry friends, no matter how difficult or impossible it seems. That's probably why this "prank-it-forward" is so satisfyingly well-deserved. While Sherri has clearly gone above and beyond to help animals, so much more is needed.
Each year, an estimated six to eight million cats and dogs enter shelters in the United States. With just approximately 3,500 physical shelters and 10,000 rescue groups, the demand for space greatly outweighs the supply. This leads to three million animals being euthanized; even more devastating is the fact that 80 percent of those animals were healthy, treatable and adoptable.
