Siberian huskies are strong, hardworking sled dogs. For years the eastern Siberian Chukchi tribe used these dogs as watchdogs and sled pullers. The husky is native to Siberia, but because of its great speed, was brought to Alaska by fur traders for Arctic races. During World War II the dogs served on the Army's Arctic Search and Rescue Unit. The Siberian husky's talents include sledding, carting, and racing. They were perfect working dogs for the harsh Siberian conditions. They were happy to integrate into small packs and to work for hours on end. Like all dogs, huskies are pack animals that favor a social atmosphere and this particular one can't stop talking.
