Why Do Airplane Windows Have Those Tiny Holes?

Do you prefer the window seat or the aisle seat? Each one has its own pros and cons that are worth considering before your next flight. The window seat gives you a beautiful view, but the aisle lets you stretch your legs and access the restroom with ease. A 2012 study conducted by Expedia showed that 21 percent of fliers selected window seats, 20 percent selected aisle and the remaining 59 percent showed no preference. 

Wherever you sit on the plane, you've probably wondered why there's a little hole at the bottom of the window in each row. As it turns out, there are two purposes for that tiny hole, neither of which is using it to drop small notes out of the plane for people down below. Now that you know why they're there, you'll have a fun fact to share with the other passengers on your next flight.
