Sometimes, it's easy to feel like your actions don't matter - you're one person, what difference can you possibly make to anything? Nothing, however, could be further from the truth. Just take Catherine Lucre, for example.
Back in 2014, the Australian mother of four and grandmother of three was shocked by news stories of infants being abandoned by their parents. It was an issue that called to her instincts as a mother, and she was determined to do her part in keeping unwanted infants safe. Thus, Operation Safe Haven was born.
Catherine leaves a bassinet by her door for any mother who feels they can't care for their child. She waits for them to leave before getting the baby, so that they can have the comfort of anonymity. "If you're in distress or don't know what to do or you're scared or alone or worried for whatever reason…" she says, "if you just have no other means of caring for your infant, contact me." Over the years, it's become quite a project. Watch the video to find out more.
