Here’s a touching story about two inseparable friends, who are literally never apart. Eighty-eight-year-old grandmother Misa found Fukumaru, a cat with very unique eyes, abandoned in a shed when he was just a kitten. Ever since that day, the two have been constant companions, never leaving each other’s side for a minute. Misa’s granddaughter, Miyoko Ihara, has documented this special friendship in a series of beautiful photographs.
Miyoko’s photos really show off the closeness of the bond between Misa and Fukumaru.
Fukumaru has a condition called heterochromia, which gives his eyes their distinct appearance. He was abandoned and left for dead as a kitten.
But now, he’s got a best friend for life in Misa.
“... you’re gonna share that right?”
Misa chose the name Fukumaru, which means "god of good fortune" in Japanese.
For over eight years, the two have been inseparable.
At 88 years of age, Misa is starting to develop hearing problems, as is Fukumaru.
As a result, you’ll usually find them cuddling pretty close to each other.
Together, they spend their days living a simple life.
Sometimes, Fukumaru even helps with the gardening.
They’re so close that most of the time they don’t even need to talk to know what the other is thinking.
Life is good when you’ve got such a good friend.
Especially if it’s a friend who won’t judge you on your juggling skills.
Or a friend who will always go along with a gag.
And if you have a friend that will nap with you, that’s the jackpot.
These two are the definition of best friends.
A lot of people think cats aren’t all that loyal, but this story clearly proves otherwise. If you’d like to see more of this adorable duo, there is a full book of photos available at Little More Books.
