Valentine's Day is right around the corner, which means couples from all walks of life will be taking each other out for a night of romance. On the holiday dedicated to love, it's important to go on a date that's both fun and original. If this is your first date with someone, you want to set a good tone for the rest of the relationship by doing something unique. If you've been with someone for 25 years, it's always a good idea to shake things up with something your partner might not be expecting.
We've compiled a list of our 15 favorite date ideas that are perfect for Valentine's Day, as well as every other day of the year! This list has a variety of ideas that are perfect for every type of couple.
Looking for something adventurous? We've got you covered. What about a quiet night inside? Taken care of. There are so many possibilities out there, so what are you waiting for? Check out these ideas that are sure to make this Sunday a Valentine's Day to remember.
1. Take a ride in a hot air balloon.
This is a classic date idea that feels larger than life ... and for good reason! Not recommended if you (or your date) are afraid of heights.
2. Treat yourselves to a dessert bar.
Going out is nice, but sometimes the best dates happen at the house. Take a trip to the store, load up on the best desserts you can find and indulge in some sweets with your sweet.
3. Soak up the sun.
This one might not be realistic for every couple out there for obvious reasons. If you live near the coast, great! Head on outside and grab a tan with your significant other. If not, simply lay some chairs out on the lawn, close your eyes and pretend you're on a tropical island paradise.
4. Visit a restaurant with a stunning view.
Most cities feature restaurants with great views, whether they're up in a skyscraper or overlooking nature. Of course, the best view is the person sitting across the table from you, but having some beautiful surroundings doesn't hurt either.
5. Take a dance class.
What's more romantic than dancing? Dancing well. A series of dance classes at a local studio are relatively inexpensive, and they'll give you and your partner something to learn and get better at together.
6. Book a couple's massage.
Most couples love giving each other back rubs, but sometimes it's best to let a professional handle it. A couple's massage will leave the two of you relaxed, renewed and ready to focus on one another for the rest of the day.
7. Watch the sun rise or set together.
Sunrises and sunsets are views we'll never get tired of seeing. Witnessing them with someone you love usually makes them 1000x better. Bonus points if you watch the sun rise and set in the same day.
8. Go stargazing.
You just finished watching the sunset together and are looking for something to do next - why not stay put and look at the stars? And no, we don't mean the stars in each other's eyes. Find a location far away from other light sources so you can fully appreciate every cluster and constellation out there.
9. Take a workout class together.
Exercise releases endorphins which will make you and your date feel great while you're together. You can push each other to work harder, and, by the end, you'll have made it through something challenging together. This is the perfect thing to do before indulging in the "dessert bar" we mentioned earlier.
10. Play a round of golf.
Speaking of "something challenging," you can always play a round of golf with your significant other. Unless either of you are avid golfers, you're in for a lot of bogeys and lost balls. Instead of stressing about doing well, view this as a great opportunity to feel comfortable failing in front of each other. Having fun together and goofing around is always more important than winning.
11. Visit a local aquarium.
Aquariums are a great first date location. There is plenty to do and see, plus each sea creature gives you and your date something to talk about.
12. Go horseback riding.
Horseback riding is a great way to spend some time outside, get active and learn a new skill. Even if the two of you are hesitant about riding, simply visiting a local barn and meeting the animals is a lovely bonding experience.
13. Visit a library or bookstore.
Exploring the shelves of a good bookstore or library will provide endless conversation topics. The types of books a person is into says a lot about them as a person.
14. Go ice skating.
One of the most romantic dates in the whole world. Like with golf, even if both of you are bad at it, ice skating still promises a romantic evening. As long as you two are holding onto each other and making your way around the rink, you're in for a good time.
15. Check out the zoo.
Similar to the aquarium, zoos offer a lot of room to walk around and discover unique animals. If you can survive the stench of the monkey habitat with someone, the two of you are soulmates.
