20 Mystical Bridges That Look Like They're From Another World

A mossy bridge over a quiet, lazy river or creek is a must-have for any rural or river scene. Below are some of the most beautiful and mystical bridges from around the world.

Interestingly enough, the arch in a stone bridge is kept in position purely by its own weight. The stones that support the arch wouldn’t stand on their own without the stones above them weighing them down and locking them into position. That’s why building an arched stone bridge is no small feat of engineering. Usually, the arch would have to rest on a wooden framework underneath the bridge, which would later be removed once all the stones were properly placed.
