63 Deaf Dancers Perform A Stunning, Perfectly Synchronized Routine
Thousand-Hand Guan Yin is a remarkable dance. Requiring three groups of 21 dancers to form perfectly straight lines, the dance creates a mesmerizing illusion around the lead dancer. The coordination and timing required to pull off a routine this complicated is astounding, but when you consider the fact that each dancer is deaf, their moves seem nearly impossible.
These dancers don't let their lack of hearing affect their desire to deliver a powerful performance. With the help of six directors at the sides of the stage making sure they hit every mark, the China Disabled People's Performing Arts Troupe becomes one with the music, even if they aren't able to hear it.
