I'm a kitchen nut/amateur foodie, and I absolutely love how combining certain foods can yield various benefits. For instance, back in India, my mom used to make a digestive drink of cumin and greek yogurt whenever I had an upset tummy. Foods can react with each other at a chemical level to provide all sorts of benefits.
One of the biggest concerns that most people have when it comes to eating is losing weight. It's one thing to just eat healthy, but if you know how certain foods cooperate with each other to boost your weight loss, you can take your diet's effectiveness to a whole other level!
1. Vegetables + Hard-Boiled Egg
Eggs aid in the absorption of carotenoids (pigments that give color to vegetables). Carotenoids help fight weight gain and also prevent against loss of vision, as well a protecting against cancer and help to nourish your skin. Next time you eat a salad, consider adding an egg!
2. Tuna + Ginger
Ginger helps speed up the process of emptying your gastric tract and also blocks enzymes that promote inflammation. Tuna contains Omega-3, which prevents the storage of fat in the abdominal region.
3. Spinach + Avocado Oil
Spinach is a highly nutritious vegetable that's low in calories and increases satiety, while avocado oil helps increase cholesterol levels and contains high amounts of potassium, and vitamins B and E.
4. Corn + Legumes
A diet which incorporates at least one weekly serving of legumes has been found to be more effective at weight loss than one with the same calorie count and no legumes. Adding corn increases the slimming effect as the starches in corn keep the body from absorbing too many extra calories and glucose.
5. 5. Melon + Red Grapes
Melons are a diuretic that help prevent fluid retention, and grapes have antioxidants that reduce fat accumulation.
6. Chicken + Cayenne Pepper
Chicken is rich in lean protein, which keeps you full and helps you ingest less calories per meal. Cayenne pepper, in its own turn, accelerates fat burning and suppresses appetite.
7. Potatoes + Pepper
Some studies suggest that potatoes are actually more satiating than whole grains, as well as being a great source of potassium. Eat potatoes boiled or roasted without dressing or butter. Season with pepper, which prevents the formation of new fat cells.
8. Coffee + Cinnamon
Coffee helps lower your appetite, while cinnamon has antioxidants that fight belly flab. Not only that, but a pinch of cinnamon in your coffee is simply delicious!
