A Capella Group Has Hauntingly Beautiful Cover Of Beyonce's "Pretty Hurts"

It’s no secret that society puts a lot of pressure on young women to look a certain way. Between magazines, TV and Internet media, it sometimes feels like everyone but you has a slim waist, clear skin and perfect teeth. Even women who are intelligent and confidant have days when they feel like their looks just aren’t good enough.

One pop star who has always stood up against the media’s unfair treatment of women is Beyoncé Knowles. Her body-positive messages have gone a long way in helping to remind women that they are more than what they look like – and that “good looks” have been defined by society, not any over-lying truths. Her song “Pretty Hurts” is one of her most powerful ballads, but we’ve never heard it performed quite like this before. The power, emotion and raw talent displayed by this a capella group, Note-oriety, from James Madison University, is hauntingly beautiful. It’s something we are going to listen to over and over again, especially on those days where all we need is a little boost to remind us that it’s what’s on the inside that truly matters.
