Adults sure know how to over-complicate things. We analyze simple comments, worry about having nothing to worry about and insist on eating gorgonzola on rye, when everyone knows that American and white bread makes the world’s best grilled cheese sandwich. Kids, on the other hand, are far more direct. They’ll tell you what they’re thinking with no regard for the proper standards of society. Sometimes, this reckless abandon results in some pretty brilliant thinking.
That was certainly the case when a group of researchers asked children ages 4 to 8 to explain the meaning of true love. While adults would have no doubt waxed rhapsodic over a past experience, these kids kept it short and sweet – and ended up hitting the nail right on the head.
