In 2012, Seth Casteel was a self-taught photographer living in Venice Beach, California, making his living as a Lifestyle Pet Photographer. While working "on land" with a Cavalier King Charles spaniel, the pup began diving in the pool repeatedly to fetch his tennis ball. Casteel wondered what the canine looked like under the water and quickly left and purchased a little point-and-shoot underwater camera. The rest, as they say, is history. His underwater dog and puppy photos became such a viral sensation that he was offered a book deal with Little, Brown and Company. His book became a New York Times Best Seller. Through his water-safety advocacy for pets, he realized this was also a serious issue for children. In the U.S., the number one cause of death for children under five is drowning. Casteel opted to bring awareness to the cause through this series of joyous images. The collection can be found in his latest book on Amazon and his work is also featured on his website. You can follow him on Facebook and keep abreast of his new endeavors.
