The average wedding dress these days can cost close to $3,000 (along with the family fights and the blood, sweat and tears involved in fitting into that magic dress). That’s why it’s so unbelievable to imagine that the gorgeous wedding dress you see below cost somewhere in the vicinity of $10. Redditor (and DIY fashion genius) Avant-Geek is no stranger to making cool and unusual things. One day, she decided to make a wedding dress and, as you can see, the results are stunning. There’s one thing in particular, though, that sets her dress apart, but you’ll have to look really, really closely to see it.
This dress has it all: a little color, a lot of class, and just a dash of daring.
Here’s the kicker, though: It was made entirely out of toilet paper.
Okay, she also used tape and glue to help hold parts of it together, but the dress itself is all toilet paper.
“What about the gold accents,” you ask. Just expertly cut gold tape.
All told, the dress took around 11 rolls to make.
Avant-Geek, also known as Olivia Mears, created the dress for the annual Cheap Chic Toilet Paper Wedding Dress Contest. I’m definitely curious to know what ply she used. I’m thinking double or quilted. To check out more of her amazing creations, head over to her Facebook page or her Reddit page.
