The animal kingdom isn't one that we normally associate with cooperative efforts. In fact, we'd usually think about one animal trying to get one over on another.
Yet, you'd be amazed at how much cooperation exists between different creatures when they find themselves facing a complex problem.
These 15 examples of animals acting in teams are simply thrilling. They're almost human in the way that they work together.
We think that the 9th item on our list is spectacular, but we're pretty sure that you just won't be able to believe any of our real-life examples of animals working in teams.
1. Who Says Romance Is Dead?
Isn't this just heartwarming? We're fairly certain that this isn't a Valentine's Day date for the mice but it sure looks like one, doesn't it?
2. So Close
These pandas have got the right idea. However, we think the one at the bottom is going to need to get taller if he wants to boost his friend to the top of that post.
3. Kitty Lifter
These two lionesses sure know how to get their nails done. Instead of popping to a salon, one jumps on the other's back and shreds some bark.
4. Ginormous Giraffe
We're not 100% convinced that this image is real, but if it is, this must be the highest a land animal has ever been.
5. Panda Prison Break
There's something so innately playful-looking about pandas that we're always delighted to see them doing stuff. Like plotting a way out of jail.
6. Bear Back
Sometimes there's not a pig handy when you need one, so you jump on your brother bear's back instead. Then your other brother bear joins in.
7. Bearing The Load
If at first you don't succeed, call your friend and then break into that disposal unit. We wonder if Ranger Smith will come to arrest them?
8. Panda Pops
This looks like chilly work. Here you have a cheeky panda giving his chum a boost up the tree. We're not sure why, since pandas eat bamboo and not trees.
9. Balancing Act
This is awe-inspiring. It's hard enough to imagine a dog giving another dog a piggy-back, but it's impossible to think that they'd then go and play catch.
10. Pecking A Pocket
Quick, send the ducklings out to distract her! Then while she's feeling all warm and fuzzy, Uncle Fagin the Fowl can get to work.
11. Sharing The Load
You can see how this stick might be too heavy for the little corgis. So they're going to take it home together rather than letting one do all the hard work.
12. I Need A Raise
This dog is a willing accomplice as his feline companion steals a drink of water from the dispenser. We wonder if it works on vending machines too?
13. Back Me Up
The little and large contrast here is adorable. It's the perfect way for the tiny dog to see what's coming down the garden path, though.
14. Three Wise Monkeys
Ticks and insects are no joke, and there's no simian barber shop to deal with the grooming aspects of a hard day's monkeying around.
15. Standing On The Shoulders Of Kittens
This seems to be about a kitten's quest for the perfect scratching material. No damp green wood when you've got a friend willing to lend a hand.
So, there you have it. Animals can form incredible teams if the incentives arise for them to do so. They're also really cute when they work together!
