Bathtime Means A Tantrum From This Husky Dog
Isn’t it weird that dogs love to swim, but hate taking a bath? It’s not the water that bothers them, like their feline friends, but rather the feeling of being restrained and helpless. While it’s important to get your dog used to bathing as a puppy, you may not have that luxury when adopting an older furry friend from a shelter. However, there are some things you can do to ease the pain of bathtime.
First, make sure to take it slow. The more you rush and get frustrated, the more anxious your dog will become. Some dogs enjoy having a chew toy or two in the bath, while other like popping bubbles. Test out different options until you find what your pooch prefers. Above all, make sure your dog learns to associate bath with good things – treats, a long cuddle and lots of kind words go a long way.
Of course, there will always be some dogs, like Monk the husky, who simply loathe getting clean. Listen to the fit he throws when his mama says it’s time for a shower.
