There are a lot of stigmas surrounding weight in the United States. The same television channel that glorifies a perfect body one minute will run an advertisement for fast food the next. We live in a fast-paced world, and the idea of neglecting your body in favor of doing other things grows more tempting each day.
For Jacob Miller, however, struggles with weight were far more complex than craving an unhealthy meal. He was big from the moment he was born and showed no signs of stopping his accelerated growth. Weighing as much as 707 pounds at one point, Jacob was picked on by bullies who didn't understand the medical conditions he struggled with. Finally, in 2013, Jacob and his family decided to make a change. They began seeing specialists, hoping to get to the bottom of the weight issues that were hurting their son. Now, one year later, Jacob is on track towards a healthier life.
