Lottie The Border Collie Loves Hugging Her Best Friend

The bonds shared between siblings are some of the most precious that anyone can experience in their life. Through thick and thin and for better or worse, siblings are right there with you for so many of the most important times in your life. As much as this holds true for humans, the same can be said of dogs.

Meet Lottie the border collie, and Grizzly the German shepherd. Both dogs belong to Taylor Duguay, and they all live in the area of Sudbury, Ontario in Canada. Lottie was adopted when she was only 4 months old. From the very beginning, Taylor knew that Lottie was going to eventually need a sibling, and a year later, Grizzly became a part of the family at just seven weeks old. Sadly, Grizzly spent the first few weeks of his life as a stray but since being adopted, Lottie has done everything she can to help him feel loved. In an interview with BuzzFeed Canada, Taylor describes the dogs' relationship as a "storybook" friendship. She goes on to say, "Lottie and Grizzly have been inseparable since day one [...] Lottie truly believes Grizzly is her own puppy."

It might be hard to tell just by looking at her, but Lottie is actually a trained show dog. Though she has been taught hundreds of tricks, the story behind her hugging Grizzly is one of pure affection. Taylor explained, "Lottie sort of did it on her own. At first Grizzly wasn't sure what was going on. Now when I ask Lottie who her best friend is, you can even catch Grizzly getting ready for the hug and leaning into her." She now knows how to do it on command. However, she is often seen doing it just out of love. If you want to see more of these loveable dogs, be sure to check them out on their Instagram.
