Dogs are truly incredible creatures. They are so loyal and loving, and I've found that they are also highly emotionally intuitive. They know when you're feeling down instinctively, and will come cuddle up with you to comfort.
19 years old and unable to walk, a therapy dog called Baxter was the perfect help for patients at the San Diego Hospice's in-patient care center. According to his owner, Melissa, the chow-retriever mix was a surprising choice for a therapy dog. When Baxter was only two years old, he was incredibly wary of human contact. Loud noises and large object frightened this adorable creature. With time and love, though, Baxter became a wonderful companion to the individuals in this video. He connected with them in a sensitive and loving way, giving these people the comfort they needed during their last days.
