Father Pushes His Musically Gifted Son's Wheelchair In The University Of Louisville's Marching Band.
Patrick Henry Hughes is a talented, multi-instrumentalist musician from Louisville, Kentucky. On paper, it may not seem particularly special, but Patrick was born with no eyes and an inability to fully straighten his arms and legs. In spite of the odds, he showed an early fascination with music and started to play the piano when he was just 9 months old. His parents soon discovered that Patrick was quite the prodigy at piano and the trumpet, encouraging and supporting his efforts every step of the way.
When he got into the University of Louisville Marching Band as a trumpeter, his father, Patrick John Hughes (Patrick Sr.), was at every show - because he was there tirelessly maneuvering his son's wheelchair in tight, precise formations with 220+ other musicians. For five seasons, he was at every practice and every game, working the night shift at a package shipping company to support his son's dreams. In 2010, Patrick graduated magna cum laude from the University of Louisville with a degree in Spanish, which he speaks fluently. Now, he and his father travel the country to inspire others to live to their fullest potential.
