Baking soda is just one of those things that you should always have on hand, because it's got so many uses. Besides the obvious application in baking, it's also a great deodorizer and can go a long way towards helping keep various household items clean. Just yesterday, I even unclogged my drain using baking soda and vinegar (true story). Besides those household uses, however, baking soda is also a pretty great DIY beauty product.
In this video by YouTuber Darsh, of Darsh's Bites, we learn how to use baking soda to tackle a common problem for a lot of adults these days - dark circles under the eyes. They're most commonly seen as a sign of fatigue and lack of sleep, but there are actually several factors that can contribute to them. Stress, poor diet, excessive smoking or drinking, anemia, and sun exposure can all potentially be to blame. In some cases, it can also just be an inherited physical trait. Whatever the cause of dark circles may be, the people who have them will probably be unanimous in their desire to minimize their appearance.
For her solution to dark undereye circles, Darsh takes some baking soda and a little water, and mixes them together in a bowl until she gets a runny paste. She then uses a spoon to apply the paste to her cheeks, taking care not to actually apply it to the undereye area itself. This is because the skin under the eyes is quite sensitive and the paste could irritate it and cause the circles to darken further. After 5 minutes or so, the paste is dry and ready to be gently wiped off with a soft cloth, revealing fresher, softer skin on your cheeks while simultaneously tightening and lightening the area under the eyes.
