Making money is the name of the game in Hollywood. If you're out there making duds, your time underneath the bright lights will be cut short. Movie studios thrive when they attach big names to their projects. Some of the hottest actors in the game right now have been doing this for decades. Others have only blown up recently, but are making the most of it.

From some mighty Avengers to a former World Heavyweight champion, a large list of actors have been bringing home some seriously huge paychecks. Here's a list of some of this year's highest-paid actors.

1. Guardian Of The Box Office

This year, Chris Pratt reprised his role of Peter Quill/Star-Lord in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, which earned $863 million worldwide. With personal earnings of $17 million, the actor is likely to stick around in his Marvel gig for a while. Next summer, he'll be pulling double duty promoting both Avengers: Infinity War and Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom.

2. The Bourne Paycheck

2017 was a producitve year for Matt Damon. The actor, who earned $21 million, had leading roles in Downsizing and Suburbicon. He also lent his voice to the racing video game Need for Speed Payback.

3. City Of Stars

Ryan Gosling earned accolades for his performance in La La Land. Making $29 million for the year, the actor capped things off with a hosting gig on Saturday Night Live.

At 55, Tom Cruise is still one of the most prolific action stars on the planet. This year, he earned his biggest global debut yet with The Mummy. His bank account is feeling just fine with an additional $43 million.

Robert Downey Jr. is the fifth-highest grossing U.S. star of all time, and there's no denying his star power. Aside from his work as Iron Man, he runs a production company with his wife titled Team Downey. The star earned $48 million this year.

7. Marky Mark's Millions

This year, Mark Wahlberg enjoyed box office success with Transformers: The Last Knight. His reality show Wahlburgers also reached its eighth season on A&E. He's earned a cool $68 million for his work.
