Here's How To Make A Survival Candle From A Stick Of Butter
Throughout the years, people have used many strange materials to make candles. The oldest candles that have been found so far were recovered from the mausoleum of Qin Shi Huang, the first emperor of the Chinese Qin Dynasty. These candles, which date back to the time of Huang's death in 210 BC, were made from whale tallow. Another interesting candle material is yak butter. Tibetan monasteries have used yak butter candles and lamps in their daily rituals since at least 1500 AD. Although we are used to having wax candles in our homes, this video shows a trick that will allow you to make candles similar to the ones used by monks. And don't worry -- no yak is necessary.
